Ballet has been part of my life since I was five years old, when I began classes in Kloof, South Africa. From the very first lesson, I was captivated.
Â
I was extremely fortunate to train with two exceptional teachers: Louanne Wing and Eileen Keegan. They instilled in me not only a love of ballet, but a deep appreciation for the Cecchetti Method.
Â
I have lived in SWLondon, UK since 2000, and have recently started 'PivotPointe' as a reflection of my journey, and to share the love and transformative power of ballet with my community.
Â
My mission is to ensure that we dance with pure, unbridled joy in a fun, safe and supportive environment, while continuing to age with grace and confidence.Â
My Pivot Back to Ballet
Â
The dedicated years of ballet training shaped me in countless ways. The classes, the friendships, the concerts and competitions became a treasured part of my childhood. I even looked forward to exam days – my hair carefully teased into an immovable bun, my exam number pinned to my leotard, the butterflies before stepping into the studio, and the satisfaction of giving my very best.

The shows were always a highlight, with my most favourite being "Seasons" choreographed by Louanne Wing. The hours of practice, the excitement of dancing with others of different ages, the stage makeup and costumes culminating in a spectacular production. Â Well, that's how I remember it.

Sadly a serious sports injury and surgery during university meant I stepped away from dancing, but ballet-love never really left me.
Â
My Business Degree and Diploma in Marketing led to a fulfilling career in the corporate and charity sectors. Throughout those years, I stayed connected to ballet whenever I could – attending performances, helping backstage with my daughter's dance school productions, and coaching an adult dancer in her home studio.
Â
Then life presented an unexpected turning point. Following cancer treatment in 2024 and redundancy in 2025, I found myself with the time and opportunity to reflect on what truly brings me joy. That reflection led me back to where it all began.
Â
Today, I am delighted to have returned to my first love. As a licensed Royal Academy of Dance Silver Swans® teacher, I now have the privilege of sharing the enjoyment, grace and many benefits of ballet with adults aged 50 and over in my local community.
Â
It's never too late to discover the pleasure of moving to music, learning something new, and enjoying ballet in a welcoming, supportive environment.
